Study the chest bones and middle ear diagram together!

The thorax region of the human body is very important for survival and life. The chest houses your lungs, heart, and vital arteries that carry blood to the rest of your body. In order to protect one of the most vital regions in the body, the body has developed an impressive array of defenses. One of the most important defense that the body created is the bones. In the thorax or chest region, the chest bones can be found.

Many people know what the skeletal system bones look like. However, not many people know the structure of these bones. The skeletal bones are created primarily from calcium phosphate that creates connective tissue.. The bones of the skeletal system all have distinct shapes and sizes. The skeletal bones are very important in aiding the body with movement and strength.

One key function of the bones that is often overlooked is the production of red and white blood cells. The bone marrow is located in the center of many bones in the skeleton. Red blood cells and white blood cells are produced in this region. These red blood cells are essential for survival of the body, this is because these cells carry oxygen to other cells. White blood cells are very important in that they defend the body against invaders and pathogens.

In the thorax, twenty five bones can be found. The ribs make up the majority of the bones found in the chest. There are twenty four rib bones in the chest. A relatively long bone known as the sternum is also found in the thorax. All of the thorax bones play important functions in protecting the chest organs. The ribs are curved skeletal bones that form a structure known as the rib cage around the lungs and heart. Along with protecting the heart and lungs, the ribs allow breathing by expanding and compressing. While the ribs form a cage around the vital organs, the sternum is found in the middle of chest.

These chest bones play an essential role in human survival and existence. It would be very easy to damage organs such as the heart or lungs. Therefore, in order to protect itself, the body has devised these bones to defend the organs. The thorax bones are responsible for 25 out of 206 bones in the human body skeleton.
