Study the chest bones and throat diagram together!

The chest is one of the most significant locations in the human body. In this thorax region, the organs of the circulatory system and respiratory system are housed. The body has developed a series of defenses to protect one of the most significant regions in the body. One of the most important defense that the body created is the bones. In the thorax or chest region, the chest bones can be found.

Many people know what the skeletal system bones look like. However few know their structure and composition. The bones are created from a special type of tissue, known as dense connective tissue.. The bones of the skeletal system all have distinct shapes and sizes. Protection, support, and shape are some of the significant importance’s of the skeletal bones.

Although the bones play essential roles in protection, another vital function of the bones are creation of white and red blood cells. In the center of most bones lies a substance known as bone marrow. In this region, red blood cells and white blood cells are produced. These red blood cells are very significant for the body’s function because the carry oxygen to cells in the body. White blood cells are very important in that they defend the body against invaders and pathogens.

In the chest, there are 25 bones. 24 of these bones are known as the rib, and the body contains 2 sets of 12 ribs on each side of the chest. The sternum is the 25th bone of the chest that accompanies the twenty four rib bones. All 25 of these bones play vital roles in protecting the organs of the chest, such as the lungs and heart. The ribs are curved skeletal bones that form a structure known as the rib cage around the lungs and heart. These bones protect the heart and lungs and also expand to allow for breathing. While the ribs form a cage around the vital organs, the sternum is found in the middle of chest.

Humans would find it very difficult to survive without the protection of the thorax bones. It would be very easy to damage organs such as the heart or lungs. Therefore, in order to protect itself, the body has devised these bones to defend the organs. The chest bones account for a total of 25 bones out of the 206 bones in the human skeleton.
